About the role
NFU Mutual’s Large Corporate Insurance Department manages our largest and most complex corporate risks, with premiums over £100k. They oversee £200 million in GWPI, underwriting Property and Liability risks to drive sustainable, long-term profitable growth. We’re pleased to share this exciting new opportunity as an Underwriter.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of existing clients and quotations, serving as the lead underwriter. You will review and evaluate insurance risks, proposing and negotiating policy terms for corporate business in line with NFU Mutual's underwriting principles and standards.
Your work will ensure fair outcomes and exceptional customer service, aligned with the company’s risk appetite and financial goals. You will build and maintain strong relationships with team members, agents, brokers, and clients, ensuring objectives are met and service levels are maintained.
You’ll train, coach, mentor, and guide team members, provide technical support to various stakeholders, and support change initiatives to improve departmental efficiency. You’ll also deliver short-term and one-off projects, handle policy cancellations, resolve complaints, and support agents and brokers during client meetings to enhance customer value and uphold NFU Mutual’s reputation.
About you
You’ll be a Commercial Underwriting professional with extensive experience in Commercial Property or Liability risks within the UK general insurance market, from an insurer or broker environment.
You’ll be resilient with effective communication skills to establish strong relationships across the business, and confident to challenge and influence risk decisions. To join our team, you should also have:

A CII qualification or working towards it is desirable but not essential; we can support your professional development in this area.
