Rotational Occupational Therapist

We currently have an opportunity for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our progressive and dynamic Occupational Therapy Department within Cambridge University Hospital. This post is fixed term for maternity cover.
By working with us you will be supported to develop your Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and promote the benefits of Occupational Therapy within the hospital. We seek applicants committed to providing a high‑quality therapy provision and passionate about the profession.
There will be opportunities to be involved in a wide range of service development to shape the care we provide to our patients.
We will provide robust supervision, extensive peer support across the multidisciplinary team, and an excellent departmental training programme.
Roles and responsibilities
This post is suitable for a qualified Occupational Therapist looking to expand their existing knowledge and skills in a fast‑paced acute NHS setting.
As part of an innovative Occupational Therapy department, you will work under the supervision of an experienced Occupational Therapist, receive a comprehensive induction, and ongoing education and training.
You will ensure a safe, efficient, and effective delivery of occupational therapy and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency teams.

Essential qualifications
* Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
* Degree or Diploma of Occupational Therapy
* IELTS level 7 (for those applying internationally)
* Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
Experience
* Broad range of fieldwork placements
* Application of the Occupational Therapy process – e.g., assessment, treatment, moving and handling
* Experience of caseload management
* Experience of completing moving and handling with patients
* Experience of working in an acute hospital
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of the Occupational Therapy process
* Knowledge of evidence‑based practice
* Knowledge of research principles
* Broad overview of the role of an Occupational Therapist in an acute setting
Skills
* Self‑motivated and eager to learn
* Professional attitude
* Recognises limitations in knowledge and practice
* Able to work within professional boundaries and parameters
* Teaching / presentation skills
Additional requirements
* Understand and behave towards patients, visitors and colleagues in line with the Trust values of Safe, Kind, Excellent
* Able to work weekends or "on‑call" as needed
* Ability to travel with or without patients throughout the district when required
