Veterinary Surgeon
Small Animal Practice
Gillingham Area, Kent
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal practice in the Gillingham area. This role is ideal for a vet with 2+ years' experience who is confident with both routine and emergency surgery and is looking for a role with a strong surgical caseload and clinical variety.
This position has become available due to a recent departure and offers the chance to join a busy, supportive team with an excellent mix of consulting, surgery, and emergency work.

Key Duties
Deliver high-quality veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload Perform routine and emergency surgical procedures Manage a balance of consultations and surgical cases (approximately 50/50 split) Work collaboratively with a large, experienced clinical team Provide short periods of sole charge at the beginning or end of shifts Maintain excellent standards of patient and client care
Working Pattern
Flexible working options: 3, 4, or 5 days per week Full-time equivalent: 37.5 hours per week Shift patterns include: Early shift: 8:00am 4:30pm, Late shift: 9:30am 6:30pm 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (8:00am 12:00pm) No requirement for full out-of-hours work
This structure offers flexibility while maintaining exposure to a varied and interesting caseload.

Well-equipped first-opinion small animal practice Modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, including endoscopy Strong focus on surgical and emergency care Experienced team of 7 veterinary surgeons, 8+ nurses, and additional support staff Collaborative working environment with good clinical support
Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements
BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK RCVS registration (or eligibility) Minimum 2 years' experience in small animal practice Confident in routine and emergency surgery Comfortable with a varied caseload and occasional sole charge Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
