Overview

I am an 8 year old girl living in the Pontyclun area. I have many interests including swimming, going to the park, running, and using my iPad. I am nonverbal and have been diagnosed with ASD, an intellectual disability, and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. I require constant attention regarding my eating and personal care, and I can be overwhelmed, very quiet, and sensitive to touch. I may hurt myself or hit out when upset. I am double incontinent and wear pull-ups.

Purpose of the job: I would like two Personal Assistants to work on a 2:1 basis to help me go outside of my family home and to assist me in managing my behavior when I am out, as I tend to run off without noticing danger. This is a part‑time position but will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay provided.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check, which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of the DBS check will be met by the employer (Local Authority).


Responsibilities

* Provide support to a child with ASD, nonverbal communication, and sensory needs in daily activities and outings.
* Support personal care needs (the child is double incontinent and requires assistance).
* Supervise and ensure safety during outings, prevent elopement, and help manage behavior when away from the home.
* Collaborate with family and professionals to implement care plans and strategies.
* Record observations and report concerns to the appropriate parties as required.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Experience supporting children with ASD, intellectual disabilities, and sensory processing needs is preferred.
* Ability to provide personal care and support basic daily living activities.
* Ability to work in a 2:1 support ratio and maintain safety during outings.
* Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide satisfactory references; employer covers DBS cost.
* National Insurance number to be submitted as part of employment; contract may be part‑time with standard holiday entitlements.
