🕐 Shifts: Various shifts available – 2pm – 10pm (£15.50 per hour), 10pm – 6am (£18.18 per hour)
Job Overview:
Join the team at the Gatwick Mail Centre, one of Royal Mail’s key distribution hubs. As a Mail Sorter, you’ll help keep mail and parcels moving efficiently through the network — making sure letters, packages, and other mail items are sorted correctly and reach their destinations on time.
This is a physically active role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manually sort parcels and letters by postcode and destination
Load and unload mail from containers and transport trolleys
Scan and label items using handheld devices
Use sorting equipment and conveyors where applicable
Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
Comply with Royal Mail’s health, safety, and security procedures
Meet performance targets and deadlines during each shiftRequirements:
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift parcels (up to 11kg regularly, heavier items occasionally)
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
Flexible to work across various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to pass a basic DBS (criminal background) check
