Offer description

Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist ardent about promoting the dignity of patients (aged 13 and above) experiencing a psychiatric emergency? If so, a rare opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department Psychiatric services. You will be working closely with the staff in Emergency Departments towards shared goals; equitable access to psychiatric assessment based on need and without discrimination and you will be passionate about contributing to avoiding unnecessary admissions to Oxford University Hospital (OUH) or Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT) inpatient services. EDPS is commissioned by the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and delivered by Oxford Health NHS FT within the Emergency Departments (ED) of Oxford University Hospitals., EDPS provides 24-hour psychiatric assessment and advice to the Emergency Departments at the John Radcliffe (JR) and Horton Hospitals. The JR ED is a major trauma centre, has annual attendances exceeding 110,000 and serves a population of around 400,000. The Horton Hospital is 27 miles away and is a 'local ED' with around 50,000 annual attendances and serving a population of 200,000. EDPS has close links with the staff in the EDs working to the following shared aims: + Parity of esteem between physical and mental health care in ED. + Equitable access to psychiatric assessment based on need and without discrimination. + Promoting the dignity of patients and a positive patient experience. + Contribution to avoiding unnecessary admissions to OUH or OHFT inpatient services. + Supporting and reporting timely ED discharge in line with national and regional targets. + Supporting and maintaining existing care plans and continuity of care across services.
