About the Role
The Deputy BCN Biobank Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Breast Cancer Now (BCN) Biobank operational centre. The duties include management of tissue acquisition, storage, material requests and release, data verification, line management of junior staff, and provision of training.
About You
The role requires a dedicated, motivated, and passionate individual to oversee the daily operations of the Breast Cancer Now Biobank (BCNB). Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject; a postgraduate degree is desirable. Candidates should provide three good references. The role demands substantial teamwork skills and experience in the oncology research environment. Management of a team of tissue collection and data officers is essential, so line management experience is required. Other skills include being mutually supportive and covering duties as necessary.

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence dedicated to transforming the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients, and in populations. It is part of The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) and is renowned for its cancer research, combining basic research with clinical expertise. BCI is a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre, a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics, and supports postgraduate training in cancer research.

The position is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is a full-time (35 hours per week), fixed-term appointment for 2 years, starting around 7th July 2025. The salary range is £37,889 - £45,974 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
