Indirect Taxes Manager
Location: Leeds, Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Indirect Taxes Manager to join our team in Leeds. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to shape our taxation strategy and oversee all indirect taxes for QBE European Operations (EO), including Europe and the UK. Your New Role:
As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will:
* Contribute to the development of taxation strategy and prioritize operational deliverables and team objectives.
* Manage tactical planning and support team members to achieve positive business outcomes aligned with strategy.
* Keep the Head of Tax informed of all indirect tax issues affecting EO's performance and emerging trends.
* Assist in preparing, reviewing, and submitting accurate indirect tax computations and returns, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.
* Forecast indirect tax liabilities and ensure timely payments for effective financial management.
* Provide indirect tax input on planning and transactions to assess tax implications and minimize costs.
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to meet service expectations.
* Act as the primary contact with HMRC and other tax authorities on relevant indirect tax issues, ensuring regulatory compliance.
* Communicate key risk issues to the EO Head of Tax and relevant colleagues to highlight exposures and share information.
* Ensure technical updates and training are provided to enhance knowledge of relevant taxation issues across EO.
* Monitor workload and delegate tasks appropriately to ensure timely and accurate completion.
* Support the ongoing personal and professional development of the Tax Accountant.
* Collaborate with global colleagues, including the indirect tax team in the Philippines, to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Take ownership of your learning and share knowledge to keep tax technical skills current.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
* Communicates effectively and has strong change management skills.
* Is solution-oriented and collaborates well, with a mindset for continuous improvement.
* Can build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
* Is a qualified tax professional, preferably with a CTA qualification.
* Has demonstrable experience in UK indirect taxes (VAT and IPT).
* Possesses tax accounting skills.
* Has a thorough understanding of the tax environment and the indirect tax impact on commercial decisions.
* Is knowledgeable about financial processes.
* Has experience managing risk and control environments.
* Works closely with the Senior Manager/Regional Head of Tax to ensure compliance.
* Has previous experience leading and developing remote teams.
