Join the SJ Health Sports Medical Team
SJ Health is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist to join our Sports Medical Team for the upcoming season, supporting players competing within a Level 5 and Level 6 rugby environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a competitive rugby programme, providing medical and rehabilitation support to senior men's, women's, and junior players. The successful candidate will play a key role in injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and return-to-play planning, helping athletes maximise performance and availability throughout the season.
Working closely with coaches, players, and fellow medical staff, you will contribute to a player-centred, high-performance environment while gaining valuable experience across all aspects of sports medicine and rehabilitation.
Whether you are an experienced sports therapist looking to further develop within rugby, or a physiotherapist seeking valuable pitch-side and performance rehabilitation experience, this role offers exposure to a challenging and rewarding sporting environment.
Contract Details
Contract: Fixed-term (July 2026 – April/May 2027)
Hours: Approximately 6–10 hours per week
Location: Home fixtures are based in South London. Away fixtures vary throughout the season, with transport provided where required.
Remuneration: Competitive hourly rate and/or match-day fee (to be discussed at interview)
Essential Qualifications & Experience
BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Sports Rehabilitation, or Sports Therapy
Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP), Society of Sports Therapists, or BASRaT
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or relevant professional governing body
Working towards Level 2 Immediate Care in Sport (ICIS) qualification or equivalent
Previous experience working within a team sport environment, ideally rugby or football
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and rehabilitation delivery skills

Men's Programme
Training: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 18:30 – 21:00
Match Days: Saturdays (14:00/14:30/15:00PM kick-offs)
Women's Programme
Training: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 21:00
Match Days: Sundays (12:00 PM kick-offs)
Key Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate injuries across senior and junior squads
Lead the medical management and welfare of junior players
Develop and deliver effective injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes
Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with CSP and professional body guidelines
Provide match-day medical cover as required
Support the Senior Physiotherapist with departmental administration, reporting, and operational tasks
Contribute to player education initiatives relating to injury prevention, recovery, and performance
