The Credit Controller Role
As a Collections Officer, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of accounts that have fallen into arrears, working directly with customers to agree on practical repayment solutions and drive collections performance.
It's not just about chasing debt, it's about making informed decisions, managing risk, and treating customers fairly throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities for the Credit Controller Role
* Managing delinquent accounts through a mix of phone and written contact
* Agreeing on sustainable repayment plans and tailored solutions
* Handling sensitive conversations with professionalism and control
* Working within FCA and Consumer Credit Act guidelines at all times
* Keeping accurate records and tracking account activity
* Identifying higher-risk cases and escalating where needed
* Collaborating with internal teams across risk, recoveries and client services
What you will bring to the Credit Controller role
* Experience in collections, credit control or arrears management
* Strong communication skills - able to influence and negotiate effectively
* Calm under pressure, with the ability to manage a busy workload
* Good understanding of FCA/CCA regulations
* Comfortable working with data and making sound decisions
* Ideally, some exposure to asset finance
