Job Description
New Directions Education is recruiting on behalf of a friendly and supportive primary school in Birkenhead for an experienced Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant to join their Foundation 1 (Nursery) team.
This is a part-time role working three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) with extended hours, starting in September 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the learning and development of children in F1
2. Assist with daily routines, activities, and creative play
3. Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning experiences
4. Help with personal care and promote independence where needed
5. Maintain a safe, engaging and nurturing environment
Requirements:
6. Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (or equivalent)
7. Experience in EYFS settings, ideally within a school nursery
8. Patience, warmth, and excellent communication skills
9. Ability to work the stated hours (8:00am – 5:50pm)

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
25. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
26. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
27. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
28. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
29. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
