Production Management Assistant

Contract: Full-time, Initial 6-month freelance contract with potential to extend

MUST be based near Bruton, Somerset. One of our passions as a production company is supporting local talent. We will not accept applications for re-location. Ideally the successful applicant will be in the office 4+ days per week!

Ursus Productions is a dynamic, multi-genre production company based in Bruton, Somerset. Led by award-winning director and filmmaker Ben Anderson, and supported by a small, experienced team including the former Head of Development at the BBC, we’re passionate about telling powerful, visually rich stories across documentary, factual, and wildlife content.
We’re now looking for a motivated and highly organised Production Management Assistant to join our team.
The Role
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone at the start of their career looking to learn and grow within a fast-paced, creative environment — but equally well-suited to someone more experienced who enjoys working in a close-knit team and supporting multiple projects at once.
You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and Head of Development, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term production planning. The role is varied and hands-on, and will provide a strong grounding in all aspects of production management and development logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- General administrative support for the MD and Head of Development
- Assisting with scheduling, meeting coordination and diary management
- Supporting the creation and organisation of production documents, call sheets, and shoot logistics
- Managing and updating Google Drive folders and shared docs
- Tracking costs, invoices, and expenses across projects
- Coordinating travel, accommodation and production logistics when required
- Supporting the delivery process on commissioned projects
- Helping to ensure smooth communication across freelance teams and collaborators
- Essential Skills and Experience
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- A confident communicator – written and verbal
- Proactive, reliable and able to manage your own workload
- Very strong understanding of Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Drive
- Comfortable with fast-paced, flexible working environments
- Passion for factual content, documentaries, and/or wildlife TV is a bonus
Desirable (but not essential)
Previous experience working in production or a creative/media company
Familiarity with production processes or post-production workflows
A full driving licence
