TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing and well‑established accountancy practice in Farnham that is looking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join its friendly and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with around 1-2 years of bookkeeping experience who is looking to develop their career within accountancy practice. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a varied client portfolio and have the opportunity to develop their skills in bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts preparation.
The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you will work closely with a range of owner‑managed businesses and SME clients, supporting their day‑to‑day financial requirements and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
This is a varied role that will provide exposure to bookkeeping, VAT compliance and management accounts preparation, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients
* Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices, bank transactions and journals
* Performing bank, control account and balance sheet reconciliations
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
* Working with cloud accounting software including Xero and other digital accounting platforms
* Supporting clients with bookkeeping queries and software‑related questions
* Assisting with year‑end account preparation processes
* Ensuring client deadlines are met and work is completed accurately and efficiently
Requirements
The successful candidate will likely have:
* 1-2 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment
* AAT studies underway or a desire to pursue an AAT qualification
* Experience using Xero or other cloud‑based accounting software
* Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and double‑entry accounting
* Experience preparing VAT returns
* Exposure to management accounts preparation would be highly advantageous
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients
* A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
