Machine Shop Maintenance Engineer (Day shift)

Our client is a leader in the design and manufacturing of bespoke valves for a variety of industries.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Machine monitoring, general machine repairs, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and compliance with 5s across the site. You will also be involved in project managing future development of the machine shop.
* Day-to-day maintenance activities, routine service, fault finding, and repair of machine shop and production equipment.
* Inspection and preventive maintenance of key equipment in line with the company’s management control procedures.
* Maintain inventories of all tools, equipment and supplies.
* Liaise with the Production Manager regarding the planning and communication of machine maintenance work across the site before work commences.
* Ensure all relevant risk assessments have been completed prior to starting any in-house maintenance projects.
* Assist the Production Manager in the management and control of contractors ensuring compliance with all relevant health & safety and environmental legislation and permits.
* Carry out PAT testing of all electrical appliances in line with schedule, maintaining suitable testing records.
* Possibly undertake out of hours working for emergency call-outs and planned production management activities.
Ideal Candidate
* Understanding of CNC machines.
* Understanding of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
* Forklift licence.
* PAT Testing Qualification City & Guilds 2377 – Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
* Mechanical fault finding and repair of pumps, compressors, fans & rotating machinery.
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems; fitting, fault finding & repair.
* Plumbing, pipe fitting, compressed air systems.
* Safe systems of work; permit systems & risk assessments.
* Use of lifts, scaffold towers, forklift truck user (preferably PASMA/PAL certified and forklift licence holder).
* Highly motivated self-starter, able to act on own initiative and set priorities in a constantly changing environment.
* Confident of working under limited supervision following standardized practices or procedures.
* Good planning and organisational skills.
* Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
* Basic Computer Literacy (Excel, Word and Email).
