What You’ll Be Doing
* Assisting the Technical Lead with producing and developing complex designs and compartment layouts in line with specifications, quality and technical standards and customer requirements. Perform detail design appraisals in assigned areas of the ship to maintain design intent.
* Provide support to ongoing Installation, Set to Work, Trials and Acceptance activities.
* Investigate System Obsolescence on ship-installed parts.
* Develop and maintain skills to provide technical support and knowledge to other design disciplines; seek and share good practice to continuously improve practices and processes.
* Assist with production and maintenance of design artefacts to ensure Combat Systems compartment layouts are viable and aligned with design intent.
* Support resolution of technical issues through Installation, Setting to Work and Trials activities.
* Apply Systems Engineering and Lifecycle Management Processes to ensure design viability.
Essential
* HNC/HND in engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent, or demonstrated suitable experience.
* Understanding of System Engineering design lifecycle.
* Experience of System Physical and Functional Integration during design, build, commissioning and acceptance in a highly regulated environment.
Engineers should possess an engineering or related STEM qualification and may qualify as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through a recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged to achieve relevant accreditation. Preference given to candidates who are professionally registered.

* Experience in Design/integration of Engineering Systems, preferably Naval Combat Systems.

The Combat Systems Physical Integration Team
You’ll join the Type 26 Combat Systems Team, working across the full ship lifecycle and multiple platforms, including Gunnery and Guided Weapons, Communications, Sensors, Shared Infrastructure, and Navigation. From concept to final acceptance, the team supports setting to work, commissioning, sea trials and addressing obsolescence to keep systems effective and integrated.
