Ad-Hoc SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking adaptable and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to support on an ad‑hoc basis within a specialist SEN setting in Chorley. This provision caters to both primary and secondary‑aged pupils with complex needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties, and associated behavioural challenges.

Responsibilities
* Provide classroom‑based support across both primary and secondary age groups
* Work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with complex SEN needs
* Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to individual EHCP targets
* Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional needs
* Promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
* Respond effectively to challenging behaviours using de‑escalation strategies
Qualifications
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN (education, care, youth work, or similar)
* A calm, resilient, and patient approach
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* The ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments
* A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
* Team Teach or similar training (desirable but not essential)
