Role: Lecturer / Trainee Lecturer – Maths - Ongoing Recruitment
Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Street Campus & Shuttleworth College – Old Warden
Salary/Benefits: Salary between £31,930 and 36,878 per annum DOE and Qualifications with a market supplement of up to £3,000 for successful candidates, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Newly qualified Maths lecturers joining our department may be eligible for a Targeted Retention Incentive Payment of up to £6,000—a government-funded grant aimed at supporting early-career FE teachers in high-demand subjects like mathematics. Contract Type: Permanent – Full and Part Time roles available - Salary would be Pro-Rata if part time
Trainee roles also available, with the opportunity to gain teaching qualifications whilst in the role!
About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Maths to join our Maths and English department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Teaching & Curriculum Delivery – Plan, deliver, and assess Maths across a range of levels and qualifications, ensuring lessons meet awarding body standards and individual student needs.
* Student Support & Progress Monitoring – Provide tutorials, track progress, and maintain accurate records to help students achieve their potential and meet academic targets.
* Curriculum Innovation & Enrichment – Contribute to curriculum development, create engaging learning materials, and enhance learning through vocational links and real-world opportunities.
* Professional Engagement & Leadership – Participate in team meetings, quality assurance, marketing events, and—if qualified—lead curriculum initiatives, mentor staff, and manage courses.
* Compliance & Continuous Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety standards, while engaging in ongoing professional development and training.
About You
* Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Relevant degree or Level 5 qualification in maths, GCSEs in English and Maths (grades A–C), and willingness to gain a teaching qualification and assessor credentials.
* Teaching Experience & Technical Skills – Recent experience teaching and assessing Level 2+ maths courses, with strong subject knowledge and confident use of Microsoft Office tools.

* Professionalism & Communication – Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills; able to build positive relationships, meet deadlines, and represent the College professionally.

Shuttleworth College is set within the stunning location of Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade. It's a specialist land-based college, offering agricultural and environmental education, alongside animal sciences, equine studies and outdoor adventure all delivered within acres of parkland, farmland, lakes and woodland.
