Supported Accommodation Support Worker Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Bank
Shift Pattern: 8am 8am shifts
Week 1: Monday, Friday, Sunday

Week 2: Tuesday, Thursday

Part-time: Wednesday, Saturday

Job Purpose The purpose of this role is to provide advice, assistance, and practical support to young people living in supported accommodation. The Support Worker will attend to the practical, physical, emotional, and social needs of young people, helping them develop independence and reach their full potential.
The post holder will act as a positive role model, building strong and trusting relationships with young people and supporting them to overcome challenges in their lives.
All young people must be treated fairly and with respect. Staff are responsible for promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and for challenging any behaviour or practice that discriminates against individuals based on race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other perceived difference.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Supporting Young People Provide high-quality support that meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of young people.

Work in line with relevant legislation and guidance including the Children Act 1989, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and other applicable frameworks.

Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where young people feel secure and protected from harm.

Build positive and trusting relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Offer unconditional positive regard, promoting self-worth and confidence.

Encourage positive behaviour by challenging unacceptable conduct and reinforcing positive, pro-social behaviour.

Follow and contribute to each young persons support plan, ensuring it reflects their current needs and goals.

Practical Support Assist young people with daily living skills including:
Cooking

Cleaning

Household tasks

Basic home maintenance

Support young people to develop independent living skills .

Key Working Responsibilities Act as a Key Worker or Co-Worker for allocated young people.

Ensure support plans are up to date and that individual needs are effectively met.

Provide 1:1 support to help young people address past and present challenges.

Offer emotional support during times of difficulty or stress.

Encourage young people to set goals and support them to achieve their aspirations.

Education and Development Support young people in education, training, employment, and extracurricular activities .

Where required, provide support within educational settings.

Recording and Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including:
Daily logs

Incident reports

Planning and review reports

Provide written reports for meetings and reviews when required by the line manager.

Advocacy and Participation Empower young people to participate in decisions about their lives.

Advocate for young people during meetings where they are the subject of discussion.

Encourage young people to engage with their local community and build positive social networks.

Teamwork and Professional Conduct Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve the aims and objectives of the service.

Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and staff meetings .

Maintain effective communication with colleagues.

Be familiar with and follow Risk Assessments and Management Plans (RAMP) and support plans.

Provide support and guidance to colleagues where needed.

Participate in regular supervision sessions in line with National Minimum Standards.

Report any concerns regarding practice or conduct in line with whistleblowing procedures .

Follow all organisational policies and procedures .

General Responsibilities Attend and contribute to young peoples meetings .

Drive own vehicle where required (subject to organisational procedures and holding a valid driving licence).

Participate in training relevant to the role and maintain an up-to-date training record.

Maintain accurate financial records where required.

Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations to protect yourself, colleagues, and young people.

Requirements Experience
Minimum 1 year experience working with care-experienced young people (required)

Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build positive relationships with young people

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting young peoples welfare

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
