Job Description:
Are you an experienced Mathematics Teacher (QTS or ETC) with an interest in working with pupils with autistic & behavioural needs? Pertemps offers a paid-to-scale (up to £47000) Permanent Teacher of Mathematics role starting as soon as possible in 2024 or after your notice period.
We are partnering with an Independent Special School in Southampton focused on Education & Intervention for pupils with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Condition & Social Emotional Mental Health needs. The school has an Outstanding Ofsted report, reflecting its excellent approach to learning and competence. Achieving Outstanding in SEND is a significant achievement, especially with challenging behaviour.
The school currently supports around 50 pupils aged 11-19, with plans to double this number by September 2024, resulting in small class sizes and a high support ratio.
The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, and follows the national teaching payscale.
The ideal candidate would:
* Have a passion for working with children and young people.
* Have experience within an SEN setting (not essential if resilient and eager to learn).
* Possess excellent communication skills (team responsibility & delegation).
* Understand the importance of time management and organization.
* Have a self-motivated 'can-do' attitude.
* Have a secure understanding of safeguarding children and equality.
* Be reliable, resilient, with excellent attendance.
* Be interested in working with a team of like-minded individuals, with a focus on education.
* Be available for tours, discussions, and interviews in November or December 2023.
Part-time applicants are also welcome!
Qualifications or experience preferred:
* QTS (PGCE) or Early Careers Teachers (ECTs) are preferred.
* Unqualified or Instructor-level candidates familiar with the SEN Mathematics curriculum will be considered, especially as interim solutions. Successful candidates may be considered for a permanent role after an initial temporary period.
* Experience with Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.
* Bachelor's Degree or higher education qualification.
If this describes you, we welcome your application!
Benefits of working permanently at the school:
* Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
* A calm environment prioritizing children and staff wellbeing.
* Being part of an Ofsted OUTSTANDING school (Nov 2022).
* Pension, free lunch, free parking.
* A collaborative team focused on effective communication and pupil-centered work.
* A supportive and friendly workplace.
About the School:
The school values each individual, fostering respect and support. It has extensive experience in special education and therapeutic support for pupils with complex needs. Its vision is to nurture aspiration, resilience, and empowerment, aiming to make a positive, lifelong difference.
