Founded in 2006, Q-Mass has grown to employ nearly 50 people with an annual turnover approaching £12M from our base in East Kilbride. Following a very successful acquisition in 2024, which has enhanced the business even further, 2025 and beyond will be very exciting times ahead of growth and expansion for Q-Mass and as a result, we are now looking to expand our very talented workforce by recruiting a new QHSE Manager to report into the General Manager.
This role reports into the General Manager and is a key role in supporting Q-Mass' growth plans and therefore develop your career. Q-Mass are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented QHSE Manager, ideally with a background in Precision Engineering, CNC Machining, or perhaps the wider Engineering and Manufacturing industry. The QHSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems. This role ensures compliance with relevant standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100D, ISO 27001), statutory regulations, and customer requirements, while driving a culture of continuous improvement and safety across Q-Mass.
In this very important and rewarding role, your key responsibilities will be to:
* Maintain certification to ISO 9001, AS9100D, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001.
* Lead internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and successful outcomes.
* Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
* Develop, review, and update QMS documentation, including policies, procedures, and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
* Oversee calibration of measuring equipment and ensure traceability to international standards.
* Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and industry standards.
* Act as the competent person for health and safety (NEBOSH qualified).
* Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and accident/incident investigations.
* Promote safe systems of work, including permits to work, LOTO, COSHH, and manual handling.
* Drive environmental improvement initiatives in line with ISO 14001.
* Maintain ISO 27001 controls and ensure compliance with information security policies.
* Liaise with IT and management on data security, risk registers, and incident response.
* Facilitate training and awareness sessions for staff on QHSE policies and best practice.
* Promote a strong culture of accountability, safety, and quality across all levels.
* Report regularly to senior leadership on KPIs, audit findings, and improvement initiatives.
To be successful at interview your CV will clearly be able to demonstrate:
* NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum), Diploma desirable.
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and AS9100D standards.
* Proven experience managing audits, NCRs, and certification processes.
* Familiarity with calibration and inspection systems in precision engineering.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
* Prior experience in Precision Engineering or CNC Machining, or in Oil & Gas, Aerospace or Defence parts engineering
* Previous exposure to multi-material environments.
* Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
