Job Description
Kenton Black are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer in East Lothian. The client, a large civil engineering firm, are looking for an experienced engineer to join their team on a major converter station project in East Lothian. This is a key role within a high-profile infrastructure scheme, offering the opportunity to work on a technically challenging development supporting the UK’s energy transition. You’ll be part of a collaborative site team delivering a complex civil engineering package, with a focus on quality, safety, and programme performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting out and surveying works in accordance with design specifications
* Supporting the delivery of civil engineering works including earthworks, foundations, drainage, and structural elements
* Ensuring all works are completed in line with project drawings, specifications, and health & safety standards
* Working closely with site management, subcontractors, and design teams
* Maintaining accurate site records, including as-built documentation
* Assisting with quality assurance, inspections, and testing regimes
* Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
* Supporting programme delivery and reporting on progress
About You
* Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
* Strong knowledge of setting out techniques and equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations)
* Experience working on complex reinforced concrete structures beneficial
* Good understanding of health & safety regulations within construction
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* CSCS card (essential)
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Previous experience on HVDC converter stations, substations, or similar energy projects
* Temporary works or lifting operations knowledge
* SMSTS or SSSTS certification
