Overview
This is an operational role directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence. The post holder may drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment and will oversee all work site supervision tasks. You will work with service users to ensure that tasks are carried out to the best of their ability and demonstrate good practice as necessary. Community Payback Supervisors work with a diverse mix of individuals, so empathy, clear communication and taking the lead are important qualities.
Responsibilities
* Supervise small teams undertaking unpaid work hours in community payback projects.
* Motivate and support offenders to complete a range of manual tasks that contribute to paying back for the harm caused.
* Supervise tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities (e.g., sports halls and playgrounds), planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking and graffiti removal.
* Demonstrate good practice and work with service users to ensure tasks are completed to required standards.
* May drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment as part of daily duties.
Typical Day
On a typical day, you will spend up to 7 hours supervising a group at a Community Payback unpaid work placement. The work is varied, challenging and meaningful.
Working Pattern and Benefits
* Community Payback projects run 7 days a week; weekend work is part of the normal pattern.
* Starting salary: £26,475. Weekend days may be paid at a higher rate (50% premium).

Requirements
* Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence; this is a mandatory technical requirement. An automatic licence cannot be accepted.
