Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is seeking a chartered surveyor who is interested in joining our organisation as a Valuer, developing a career in rating and helping us build upon our successes in delivering on the Assessor’s statutory functions.

There have been significant changes in the rating system in recent years and we strive to build a stable and sustainable staffing structure with clear routes for progression, together with robust operational processes. You will be encouraged to put forward your views and ideas, as part of AVJB’s collaborative working environment.
You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.
You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.

Who We Are and What We Do
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities.
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is a council in its own right, separate from the three Ayrshire Councils, comprising 16 members, elected councillors from each of the three authorities for which the Board has responsibility.
The Board appoints the Assessor who is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Valuation List, these are the base documents which are required for the three Ayrshire Councils to in gather non-domestic rates and council tax.
The three Councils have also appointed the Assessor to be the Electoral Registration Officer, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors which is essential for all Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.

This post is advertised as Level 9 to 10 and placing is dependent on qualifications and experience:
* Level 9 - Annual salary from £40,807 to £44,092
* Level 10 - Annual salary from £45,369 to £47,705
