Clinical Fellow Core in Paediatric ENT

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow Core in Paediatric Otolaryngology (ENT) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is primarily clinical based, available as soon as possible for a period of 12 months, and will be based at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join the team providing care for children undergoing both secondary and tertiary ENT surgery. Candidates should have >2 years' experience of practising medicine. This post will provide ample opportunities to gain experience in the management of childhood ENT presentations in an elective setting, and in managing childhood ENT emergencies.
There will also be opportunities to assist in Paediatric ENT theatre sessions. The successful candidate will be able to participate in audit and research within the department. The successful applicant will not have any on‑call duties.
The post may suit an aspiring surgical trainee or a paediatric trainee (FY2/ST1 level) wishing to broaden their experience.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.
Candidate requirements
* Full Registration and Licence to Practice with the GMC at point of application
* 12 months NHS experience
* Previous experience in a surgical specialty
* Completion of Foundation House Officer competencies or equivalent
* Placements employed at foundation level or above in at least two surgical specialties
* Basic surgical skills and patient care
* Competence in basic pre‑operative and post‑operative management of surgical patients
* Previous experience of audit
* MRCS / MRCS (DOHNS) or other postgraduate qualification
* Completion of a Core Surgical Training Programme or equivalent
* Experience in ENT and Paediatrics
* Evidence of presentations and/or publications
* Ability to undertake research projects and audit
Responsibilities
Support the undertaking of outpatient clinics for Paediatric ENT, assisting the wider team in reducing the backlog of children awaiting an appointment with the service, while increasing skills in Paediatrics.
Work alongside the supervision of Paediatric ENT Consultants during clinic sessions, running an average of 6 clinic sessions a week (scope for increase with departmental agreement). Encourage attendance at sub‑specialty clinics in Paediatric ENT.
Attend the department’s medical audit, morbidity and mortality meetings, and the in‑house continuing medical education programme. Encourage completion of a robust research project in Paediatric ENT, including publication in a peer‑review journal.
