Job Description:
We are seeking full-time Residential Children’s Care Workers to work in our Children’s Homes in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Winsford, and Northwich. Cheshire West and Chester’s Residential service aims to meet the needs of its most vulnerable children and maximize their life chances to help them achieve their full potential and positive outcomes. Cheshire West and Chester Council is committed to a culture where everyone can Thrive—guided by core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money, and Empowerment.
As a Residential Children’s Care Worker, you will join an organization focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and families. Our team strives to build purposeful relationships that bring about meaningful change and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people. We foster a progressive culture that embraces creativity, innovation, and high aspirations for children.
In the coming years, the Council plans to expand its quality services by opening new homes. Our Children and Families team works in a trauma-informed way using the innovative multi-agency partnership model ‘Our Way of Working’.
You will have access to a range of benefits, including:
* Annual Leave: You will receive days of annual leave per year, increasing after five years of continuous Local Government Service.
* Career Progression: A structured progression program supports your professional development, along with extensive training, induction, and support.
* Working Rewards: Schemes include additional annual leave, car and cycle purchase schemes, WorkFit Membership, home and electronics purchase schemes, and discounts at various retailers.
* Pension Scheme: Our Local Government Pension Scheme is a career-average pension scheme with employee contributions of between X% and Y%, and current employer contributions of Z%. It includes benefits for ill health and death in service (after two years of membership).
* Employee Assistance Programme: 24/7 lifestyle support from qualified advisors for personal and work issues.
To qualify, you should hold a Level Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent and have experience supporting vulnerable children and young people, along with supervisory skills. We will provide training and support to develop your skills further. You should be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to collaborative working.
You will also:
* Receive high-quality supervision with a personal development plan.
* Have opportunities to deliver quality services in partnership with stakeholders, managing a manageable workload.
* Work in an environment that supports evidence-based practice.
Please note: The job may close early if a sufficient number of applications are received.
