To train as a student sonographer within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, to complete the post graduate certificate and post graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound, becoming an autonomous practitioner contributing to the sonographer led service.
There are two positions available, one based at North Tyneside General Hospital and one based at Wansbeck General Hospital. Base sites will be discussed and agreed during the interview process.

Responsibilities include:
* To work as a student sonographer within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, completing the post graduate certificate and post graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound, becoming an autonomous practitioner contributing to the sonographer led service with minimal input from consultant medical staff.
* Progressively undertake all of the required clinical caseload of the Trust, excluding the most complex interventions carried out by medical staff.
* Manage the patient pathway associated with individual designated referrals, providing a comprehensive report of findings (seeking appropriate advice if required) and ensuring communication to appropriate clinicians.
* Take responsibility for image archiving and electronic data management generated during the procedure.
* Effectively express, using verbal and non-verbal communication skills, distressing and unexpected news directly to patients with empathy, respect and tact.
* Develop knowledge of professional expertise for external consultation and work as a team with a multidisciplinary approach to service provision.
* Be responsible for technical equipment QA and ensure its safe operation for patient use.
* Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust, engaging, enabling and empowering others, using coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitating team working within and across departments and organisational boundaries.
