About The Employer
We are a very friendly family of four located at Billericay, Essex, looking for a Personal Assistant for our youngest son. The child is non‑verbal, has autism and learning difficulties, and requires support for self‑care such as toileting, showering, dressing and medication taking.
About The Role
Duties and responsibilities:
* Support and prompt with personal care, including toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed and dressing.
* Support and prompt to take medication.
* Support and prompt to attend appointments such as hospital or doctor visits.
* Assist and encourage socialisation, participation in activities, promotion of friendships and independence.
* Develop a trusting one‑to‑one working relationship.
Tasks may vary daily; you may be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You are responsible for reporting all accidents to the employer immediately, and for reporting defects or hazards that could lead to an accident. You must ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work, this post requires a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs covered).
Transport Requirement
Car driver preferred but not essential.

* Honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including restrictions on social media use.
* Capable of working on own initiative, as part of a team and following instructions accurately.
* Patient, supportive, caring, with good listening skills and ability to provide non‑judgemental emotional support.
* Empathetic and genuinely interested in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
* Previous experience in childcare/special needs essential.
* Flexible and able to adapt to employers needs on a daily basis.
* Self‑motivated with a willingness to get involved and a lively personality.
Required Training
Successful candidates are required to undertake any necessary and appropriate training. Must already hold qualifications for moving and handling and first aid.
Hours
4 hours per week during term time, 8 hours school holidays. Dates and times are flexible and will be discussed at interview.
