Are you a senior Occupational Therapist with a passion for service development as well as clinical work?
The Occupational and Fitness Therapy team in Secure Services is looking for an experienced, creative, and well-connected Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team as the Vocational and Recovery Lead for the inpatient wards.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months covering maternity leave.
We are looking for someone that can run with the "bright ideas" of service users and staff and has an interest in working alongside service users to expand their opportunities to engage in vocational activities. This will include real work roles, on and off site, volunteering and access to education.
Main duties of the job
* Leading on developing the vocational pathway for inpatient areas across the three low and medium Secure sites; Northside House and Whitlingham ward in Norwich, and Foxhall House in Ipswich.
* Risk assess and manage the vocational offering such as the onsite shop
* Liaise with third sector organisations, as well as tapping into resources such as the Recovery College and People Participation within NSFT.
* Have oversight over "The Mount" at Northside House, providing line management for the staff and supporting them to continue to provide practical therapy sessions such as woodwork, metal work gardening and animal care
* To take ownership over our park project development, supporting staff and service users in the development of this
* Provide guidance to service users wanting to build vocational skills including advice on working with convictions (training can be provided)
* Provide line management to the teachers working across our wards being their point of contact and supporting them with practical and/or clinical considerations.
* Provide clinical supervision
* Support Quality Improvement projects related to recovery and participation within the service
* Be willing and able to travel independently between Norfolk and Suffolk
* Take on students a minimum of 4 weeks per year as part of our "Fair Share" model of student placement allocations

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma / Degree in OT
* Clinical supervisor qualification or willing to work towards it
Desirable
* Relevant post graduate training courses
Experience
* Have significant post registration experience
* Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
Desirable
* Supporting service development
Skills
* Ability to deliver OT assessment / treatment with designated client group.
* Able to effectively prioritise own work load
Other
* Ability to travel independently.
