On behalf of our client, a leading professional services organisation in Birmingham, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Group Financial Controller to lead their financial accounting function and drive strategic financial management at the heart of their operations.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, planning, control, and reporting, ensuring robust governance and supporting organisational growth.

Key Responsibilities as Group Financial Controller:
Prepare company accounts for assigned subsidiaries and business units, ensuring strong controls and alignment with group reporting systems.
Provide technical accounting expertise to the finance team and update the group's central accounting function.
Strengthen corporate governance by maintaining clear documentation and enhancing financial controls and risk management processes.
Oversee balance sheet reporting, supporting account owners and optimising forecasting processes.
Manage balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital forecasts, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Take ownership of fixed asset financial accounting, capital expenditure planning, and review of business cases for investment projects.
Oversee foreign exchange risk management, including hedging strategies and related accounting.
Monitor and report on financing activities, such as bank facilities and trade finance agreements.
Support the continuous improvement and development of the company's financial systems.
Lead the year-end audit process and act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
Skills & Experience required for Group Financial Controller:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience and technical financial accounting skills in a senior finance leadership role.
Proven track record of managing finance and accounting functions within a dynamic and fast-paced organisation.
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Commercially minded with the ability to link financial management to business strategy.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
High level of integrity, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
