We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join Herefordshire Council as Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). This is a key role for safeguarding children and young people across Herefordshire.
Responsibilities
* Manage the Position of Trust process in respect of adults in the children's workforce where there are concerns that they have caused harm or intend to cause harm to a child in accordance with statutory guidance (Working Together 2023).
* Maintain a diverse range of sensitive relationships within the Council across Directorates and with external agencies including (but not limited to) schools and education providers, early years providers, health providers, police, charities, independent, private, faith and voluntary groups at a local, regional and national stage. You will also work as appropriate with HR services within the Council and across all partnership agencies.
* Ensure that senior leaders are kept fully informed in respect of those situations that may result in adverse or negative publicity.
* Day to day duties will include: (as listed below)
* Chairing all meetings in respect of managing allegations in respect of individuals who have caused harm or may pose a risk to children.
* Challenge, as required, decisions made by employers in respect of their employees which do not assure the safeguarding of children.
* Provide advice across the safeguarding partnership in respect of interpreting and implementing Safeguarding Procedures and policies.
* Deliver (as required) multi-agency training to ensure that best practice is achieved across all sectors (content exists).
* Prepare a quarterly performance report for delivery across the sector which highlights new issues, challenges thinking and identifies learning.
* Ensure that the client information system in respect of adults who may pose a risk to children or have caused harm to a child is maintained.
* The post holder will comply with and promote the Council\'s Health, Wellbeing and Safety at Work and Confidentiality policies and ensure these are implemented effectively within his/her areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent.
* Relevant Experience within children\'s services.
* Social Work England Registration.
