Key Responsibilities\n\nWork in partnership in multidisciplinary teams comprising consultants, GPs, nurses and nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, social care staff, care home staff, healthcare assistances and administrative staff.\nBe a point of contact for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers, taking messages and triaging any prescribing and medicines related enquiries and information to the most appropriate member of staff.\nUse GP Practice electronic patient electronic record systems e.g. Vison, Emis, STU, drug alerts to identify specific patients, patient groups and to generate data for reports. Collect and collate patient related prescribing and clinical data.\nUnder the direction of pharmacists/pharmacy technicians and working to standard operating procedures make changes to patientsâ repeat prescription records to facilitate safe, evidence based, rational and cost-effective prescribing. The post-holder will be directed to make specific changes e.g. inactivating one medicine and replacing it with another.\nCarry out all duties and responsibilities professionally and in line with statutory, legal and ethical obligations. As a Pharmacy Support Worker you will be in paid employment and work towards a recognised vocational qualification at the same time.\nThe vocational training (SVQ in Pharmacy Services at SCQF Level 6) will be undertaken in your place of work with the support and qualification assessment provided internally by a team of experienced work-based assessors. An SVQ is a qualification that shows that you are able to perform a job to nationally recognised standards and is made up of a number of units, each one of which describes an aspect of the job. There are no exams involved in an SVQ, staff are assessed at their workplace using observation, professional discussion and work-related evidence. You will be assessed on the skills you use every day in your job and will assemble a portfolio of evidence in support. Your workplace training supervisor will also be involved with some assessments to provide workplace monitoring and feedback. In addition, assessment will be subject to quality assurance procedures and could require some assessments to be invigilated by the workplace training supervisor.
