Role
The role advertised is a Lecturer in Pure Mathematics (Grade 7) and is equivalent to the role of Assistant Professor at other institutions.
As a lecturer, you will lead an independent research programme that complements the existing strengths of the Pure Mathematics section whilst delivering high-quality teaching. You will be expected to secure research funding, publish in leading journals, and contribute actively to our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. Beyond the classroom, you will play an active role in the academic community through student supervision and departmental service.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
* A PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant area of the mathematical sciences.
* A proven track record of research in pure mathematics that complements the Department’s existing specialisms.
* A strong portfolio of research outputs published in leading international, peer-reviewed journals.
* A demonstrated ability to develop high-quality research funding proposals and a clear and realistic strategy for securing external funding.
* The capacity to sustain a productive research programme at an international level, supported by evidence of active collaboration within the mathematical community.
* Experience in delivering high-quality, innovative teaching and a commitment to enhancing the student experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to network effectively and engage with a diverse community of students and staff.
