The Relief Milker/Farm Technician Role
A Bank Relief Milker/Farm Technician is required to join our friendly farm team, working alongside staff and students on our busy College Farm located in West Sussex. This role offers a great opportunity to gain experience in dairy farming, livestock care, and farm operations with flexible, bank, variable-hours contracts.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide cover for milking our 140 dairy cows, including Shorthorns and Ayrshires. This support is vital during staff holidays, illness, or shortages. You will be part of the herd management team, ensuring animal welfare and milk production standards are maintained.
Brinsbury Farm operates year-round, and you may be required to work unsociable hours, including weekends and bank holidays. This role is suited for someone who enjoys outdoor farm work and being part of a dedicated team focused on animal care and agricultural education.
Key Responsibilities of Our Relief Milker/Farm Technician
* Milking and relief milking, herd health monitoring, and addressing issues as they arise.
* Supporting daily farm activities and assisting with educational resources and housekeeping.
* Helping students within the learning environment.
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments.
* Participating in college, employer, and community events and activities.
* Contributing to curriculum review and resource development.
Skills and Experience Needed
* Level 2 qualification in Agriculture or a related subject.
* Experience with health and safety procedures.
* Relevant industry experience.
* Knowledge of vocational practices in agriculture.
* Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
