Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their experienced team. You will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electro-mechanical products, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting production improvements, and contributing to ongoing product innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and test electro-mechanical products
* Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and documentation
* Perform fault analysis and technical investigations
* Supervise and support junior engineers
* Implement design changes for cost reduction, obsolescence, and production improvements
* Support verification activities, including environmental testing
* Produce detailed drawings to BS 8888 standards and manage revisions
* Create 3D designs using SolidWorks and conduct design reviews
Required Skills & Experience:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a mechanical design engineer
* Proficient in SolidWorks (3D CAD)
* Strong knowledge of common manufacturing processes (injection moulding, CNC milling)
* Experience with project/task management and technical problem-solving
* Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Strong time-management skills and ability to lead multiple projects
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers
Desirable Skills:
* SolidWorks PDM experience
* MRP knowledge
* Project leadership or management experience
* Familiarity with IEC/MIL/DO-160 standards
* Experience with environmental testing for marine or aerospace applications
