Job Role: Painting & Decorating Tutor Location: HMP Littlehey Salary: From £30,000 Contract: Permanent, full-time Working Environment: Prison-based role requiring full on-site, face-to-face delivery Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Painting & Decorating Tutor to deliver high-quality vocational training to learners at HMP Littlehey. You will work with small groups to build practical skills, technical knowledge, and positive workplace behaviourssupporting learners to achieve recognised qualifications and progress towards employment. This is a rewarding role where you will design structured lessons, create personalised learning plans, and help individuals overcome barriers to success. Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for vocational education are essential. Key Responsibilities Vocational Delivery & Learner Support Deliver Painting & Decorating training up to Level 2. Create personalised learning plans that link directly to learner goals and employability. Prepare, deliver, and review engaging lesson plans covering surface preparation, painting techniques, wallpapering, finishing, and health & safety. Motivate and support learners to increase engagement, retention, and achievement. Provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs. Programme Administration & Compliance Complete ILPs, registers, progress reviews, and awarding-body documentation accurately. Ensure adherence to safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and data protection standards. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison staff to support learner progression. Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of vocational delivery. Participate in quality assurance, CPD, and standardisation activities. Essential Criteria Level 2 qualification in Painting & Decorating. Strong vocational experience within the painting & decorating trade. Experience delivering vocational training or workshop-based instruction. Ability to use varied teaching strategies to engage adults with different learning needs. Strong communication, organisational, and facilitation skills. Understanding of safeguarding, equality, H&S, and data protection. Desirable Criteria Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards one). Experience delivering training in prison education or other alternative learning environments. Experience developing curriculum or delivering roll-on/roll-off programmes. Knowledge of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
