About the role

Balfour Beatty is seeking a proactive Pensions Administrator to join our Pensions Centre in Prescot.

You will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely pensions administration for members of the Balfour Beatty Pension Fund (BBPF) and other stakeholders. Supporting both Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) schemes, providing first-class member service while ensuring full compliance with scheme rules and pensions legislation.


What you'll be doing

* Administer DB casework including retirements, deaths, transfers and member events, meeting agreed procedures, service standards and SLAs.
* Complete automated and manual pension calculations accurately and efficiently.
* Respond to member queries via phone, email and post, providing clear and confident explanations.
* Manage DC membership activity and liaise with outsourced DC administrators.
* Maintain accurate, auditable member records, including payroll and HR interfaces.
* Support statutory and scheme communications, member notifications and routine reporting.
* Work closely with HR, payroll, finance and external advisers.
* Identify, escaliate and help resolve data issues, risks and non-standard cases.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and efficient, compliant administration processes.


Who we’re looking for

* Pensions and payroll knowledge, or equivalent practical experience.
* At least 2 years’ experience in pensions administration (DB/DC experience desirable).
* Studying, or willing to study, towards a professional pensions qualification.
* Strong understanding of core pensions administration and scheme rules.
* Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
* A proven ability to meet deadlines and SLAs.
* A customer-focused approach with strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Analytical mindset with strong data interpretation skills.
* Self-motivated and effective both independently and as part of a team.
