Primary Duties And Responsibilities
* Provides ongoing technical support in any manufacturing processes as required.
* Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of production equipment and processes to minimize downtime, turnaround time and waste while maintaining high quality.
* Recommends and leads continuous improvement initiatives based on OEE data analysis, focusing on preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment and systems.
* Assumes the role of Maintenance SME on new production equipment and actively participates in FAT/SAT/Commissioning and Installation activities.
* Acts as liaison between Engineering specialists/engineers and Plant Operations to ensure knowledge transfer for new production equipment.
* Provides technical guidance to the Production Maintenance Team and supports breakdown investigations with root cause analysis and actions.
* Initiates independent studies on breakdowns, interprets maintenance data and develops action plans and conclusions.
* Supervises contractors and technicians on site for maintenance/repairs, equipment installations and construction projects as needed.
* Conducts risk assessments and writes technical reports.
* Participates and contributes to RC analysis and support linked action plans.
* Supports quality investigations such as DIRs, MDI and CAPA generation and execution.
* Identifies trends and provides actionable insights to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
* Analyzes corrective maintenance activities and proposes improvements to preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
* Contributes to spare parts planning for industrial equipment based on consumption, risks, and delivery times.
* Maintains and updates lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures for the installed base of process equipment and supports generation/review of LOTO procedures for new equipment or upgrades.
* Leads low-complexity CAPEX projects focused on improvement or parts obsolescence in alignment with Engineering.
* Designs, reformats and amends Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
* Prepares, revises and interprets conceptual layouts, as-built AutoCAD drawings and schematics for process and plant equipment and GMP facility systems.
* Maintains a high level of pharmaceutical compliance and regulatory safety in all aspects of work.
* Follows GMP and regulatory requirements and ensures quality standards are met.
* Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Requirements
* Education
* Bachelor of Engineering/Engineering Science degree required (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
* Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng) or working towards completion of P. Eng designation.
* Experience
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, food/beverage or consumer packaging. 5+ years is an asset.
* Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset.
* Able to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings/schematics.
* Understanding of PLCs/control systems on process equipment.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Demonstrates initiative, problem solving, teamwork and self-motivation.
* Ability to lead and take ownership of systems and projects.
