Our prestigious and market-leading client, based in Shipdham, is currently seeking a Head of Nutrition to join their well-established and successful team.
Position: Head of Equine & Smallholder Nutrition
You will play a major role in overseeing product development, feed trials, sampling, and the nutritional analysis of feeds in line with current legislation.
The role involves providing equine nutritional advice via phone, email, and at shows and events. The successful candidate should be approachable, able to relate and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers of all ages and backgrounds. Additionally, you should be capable of writing articles for internal and external publications and proficient in delivering nutritional lectures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage an award-winning team of nutritionists.
2. Contribute strategically to new product development and research the feasibility of potential products.
3. Oversee feed trials in accordance with changing legislation.
4. Collaborate with a Company Director on ingredient sampling, finished product analysis, interpretation, and administration.
5. Liaise with the Marketing Department to produce technical documents for marketing and legislative purposes.
6. Provide nutritional support and product training to Area Sales Managers.
7. Attend industry conferences to stay updated on developments and report findings.
8. Write nutritional articles for publications and marketing materials.
9. Coordinate the Product Customer Service before, during, and after purchases.
10. Prepare and present nutritional talks at events and educational establishments.
11. Perform other duties as required by the nutrition department.
This role covers both equine and smallholder ranges. Besides equine expertise, the candidate should be able to advise on animals such as poultry, pigs, sheep, goats, and cattle.
Ideal candidates will have experience managing a team, leisure horse experience, and preferably hold a relevant Master's Degree.
Key Skills:
* Outstanding technical knowledge in animal nutrition — equine is essential; smallholder knowledge is a plus.
* Master's degree in Equine Science, Equine Studies, Animal Science, or Animal Management.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Creativity, enthusiasm, proactive approach.
* Computer literacy.
* Full UK driving license.
* Reside within 45 minutes of the Norfolk Head Office.
