Post Title: Content and Communications Officer
Reporting to:Headteacher/s and Trust Marketing and Communications Manager
Location: St. Thomas à Becket Catholic Secondary School, a Voluntary Academy and St Wilfrid's Catholic High School and Sixth Form
Hybrid working available according to the timetable and needs of the school
Overall Purpose of the Post:
To deliver engaging, high-quality, and compliant digital and offline communications that enhance each school's reputation. While the role will be primarily digital, it will also encompass offline communications as required. The postholder will support marketing, admissions, recruitment, internal communications, and community engagement, ensuring all communications are consistent with the school and Trust's brand identity, vision, and values.

GCSE English and Maths at grade 9 – 4 (or A* - C)
Professional qualification in Marketing, Communications, PR or related field
Skills/ Knowledge
Strong demonstrable skills in photography and videography
Video content creation – capture and editing for a range of purposes (long-form, reels, etc.)
Graphic design skills transferable across design/editing software
Strong interpersonal skills to engage staff and pupils and generate content ideas
Experience in social media marketing
Knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and data compliance
Understanding of differing marketing objectives of schools
Experience of video content creation in a school trust or educational setting
Familiarity with Catholic school ethos
Editing and design software skills
Knowledge of analytics and reporting
Experience
Demonstrable ability and creative flair for content creation within a social media/digital marketing role
Experience in using website CMS
Copywriting skills across a range of channels and objectives
Experience in a marketing/digital marketing role within a school/trust/educational setting
Experience with a range of filming/editing equipment
Experience of using WordPress

Responsibilities and accountabilities
General
1. Content Capture and Creation
* Attend school sites on scheduled days to gather photography, video, and updates
* Translate school life into creative, audience-appropriate content
* Ensure safeguarding and consent requirements are fully adhered to
* Edit and produce high-quality content aligned with objectives
* Generate clear, engaging copy for communications and promotional materials
* Support the production of school marketing content/resources across a range of objectives
2. Social Media Management
* Manage the school's social media accounts
* Create and schedule posts across platforms
* Increase engagement, visibility, and audience reach
* Upload and manage YouTube content libraries
* Report on analytics and campaign performance to the Marketing & Communications Manager
* Keep up to date with social media trends and emerging channels
* Manage paid advertising with the support of the Trust Marketing & Communications Manager
3. Website Administration
* Upload content and documents to WordPress (or equivalent)
* Ensure compliance with Ofsted, DfE, GDPR, and accessibility standards
* Liaise with staff to ensure website content is up to date
* Work with external web partners for troubleshooting and development
* Support and implement SEO strategies to drive traffic
4. Marketing
* With the support of the Trust Marketing and Communications Manage implement a marketing strategy for the school
* Contribute to school events and other marketing opportunities by capturing content
* Ensure brand consistency across all communications
* Support the development of school marketing strategies with a focus on content creation
* Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities for school promotion feedback ideas to Headteachers and Trust Marketing Communications Manager
5. Public Relations
* Support the Marketing & Communications Manager with press releases and media statements
* Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and local media
6. Internal Communications
* Support internal communication strategies to ensure staff, students, and parents are well-informed
* Assist with crisis communications and reputation management
* Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across internal and external platforms
Other Responsibilities
* Contribute to and be supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school
* Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall ethos and work aims of the school
* Comply with policies and procedures relating to:

* Confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations, having detailed knowledge of the policies and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
* Support the role of other professionals in school

Characteristics of the post:
The ability to attend meetings and events as required by the Headteacher, which may fall outside of working hours.
Oversight provided jointly by the Headteacher and Trust Marketing and Communications Manager.
