The role
Salary: £40,000 - 55,000 per year Requirements: We need hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Dataflows, Notebooks, Pipelines, and workspace management. We need strong SQL skills, including developing, optimising, and troubleshooting queries for data transformation and analytical models. We need an understanding of medallion architecture and modern data engineering best practices, including pipeline design, version control, testing, and performance optimisation. We need experience building and maintaining robust data models and semantic layers for reporting and self-service analytics using Power BI or similar tools. We need experience preparing and validating real-world datasets, including cleansing, handling missing or duplicate records, standardising inputs, and exploratory analysis using Excel. We need experience working with structured business data from ERP and CRM systems, including data relationships, master data concepts, and business process integration. We need strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. We need strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across business and IT teams. We need a proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to take ownership and see work through to completion. We need a structured, logical approach to problem-solving and analysis. We value an open mindset, continuous improvement, and a willingness to learn and develop. Relevant Microsoft certifications such as Power BI Data Analyst, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, or Fabric Data Engineer Associate are desirable. Responsibilities: We champion data innovation within a forward-thinking manufacturing environment. We integrate insights from energy systems, operational technology, ERP, and CRM platforms to support operational improvement and smarter financial and strategic decision-making. We design, build, and continuously improve scalable end-to-end data pipelines within Microsoft Fabric. We implement and maintain medallion architecture standards across ingestion, transformation, and presentation layers. We develop and optimise trusted data models and semantic layers that enable high-quality reporting, self-service analytics, and advanced business insight. We collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation to translate business requirements into practical data solutions. We support analytics projects from discovery through to adoption and business use. We shape and evolve platform standards, governance, and security practices. We maintain high levels of data quality, reliability, and performance. We continuously identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and ways of working. We actively develop our technical and professional capability. We work closely with stakeholders across the UK, US, and European businesses to ensure data is accessible, trusted, and used effectively to support decision-making. This position sits within a global manufacturing environment and reports to the Global IT Manager, giving us the opportunity to help shape the direction of a maturing data platform while working across the UK, US, and European businesses.
