Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join a Local Authority in Haringey as a Head of Revenues, Benefits & Tackling Inequality. The role involves leading and shaping critical income collection and welfare support services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the collection of over £340m in income annually, including Council Tax and Business Rates.
2. Oversee the administration of over £250m in local and statutory welfare benefits.
3. Implement and maintain the council’s Ethical Debt Collection Policy.
4. Design and rollout the Tackling Inequality model in partnership with stakeholders.
5. Champion digital transformation and promote a customer-focused, inclusive service approach.
6. Provide strategic advice to Senior Leaders and Elected Members on policy and service performance.
7. Deliver income maximisation initiatives, anti-poverty strategies, and continuous service improvements.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar senior leadership role within a Local Authority environment, particularly in Revenues & Benefits.
1. Proven track record in leading large-scale income collection and benefits services.
2. Strong leadership and management skills, including managing change and transformation projects.
3. Excellent understanding of Revenues, Benefits, NNDR, and Welfare Policy.
4. IRRV qualification or an equivalent relevant professional qualification.
5. Ability to work strategically in a political environment, advising elected Members and collaborating with stakeholders.
Contract Details
Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension to permanent.
Pay:£730 per day LTD company rate; £550 per day PAYE equivalent.
