Band 6 - Live kidney donor specialist nurse - 30 hours per week
With a growing number of patients to be managed both pre & post transplant & a strategic objective of the South west Regional Renal ODN for an increase of 40% of the transplant population to be pre-emptive, which will also help manage the demand on the dialysis services, there has been the need to restructure the team to manage the demands more effectively.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified nurse with renal experience to join our rapidly growing renal specialist team.
Main duties of the job
The role is varied & involves working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality innovative care.
The post holder will be responsible for leading a consistent and integrated approach to patient care. The ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team with excellent communication, organisational, prioritising & time management skills is essential.
You must be flexible in your approach to work; this includes occasionally travelling between hospital sites and visiting patients at home. Access to a car and possession of a clean driving license is essential to the post. You will need to be able to work flexible hours to ensure the requirements of the service are covered.
While having the ability to learn and develop quickly the successful candidates will be supported to develop the necessary skills within the role .

* Registered Nurse
* Post registration renal qualification
* Teaching / assessor qualification
* Educated to degree level
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Previous experience within the speciality
* Experience at senior staff nurse level.
* An awareness of Trust Policies including renal NSF, clinical governance, data protection etc
* Ability to demonstrate up to date experience and depth of knowledge and clinical competence.
* Demonstrate ability and experience in change management/ clinical developments.
* Some knowledge of recent NHSBT strategies, legislation and recommendations
* Advanced communication skills
* Proven teaching skills
* Excellent IT skills including spreadsheets and databases
* Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
