GSK’s global footprint comprises over 300 legal entities, each playing a distinct role in supporting the company’s mission. Within this structure, the Trading Partner Operating Model is a strategically designed network of three corporate entities—GSK Trading Services (GSKTS), ViiV Trading Services (ViiVTS) and, GSK Export (GSKE)—which collectively manage procurement, supply, import, and export activities across more than 108 countries.
These entities hold and maintain critical licenses that enable GSK to operate a centralized contracting model for supply chain procurement, intercompany trading, and third-party sales (excluding domestic in-market transactions). This model ensures regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and scalability across global markets.
Position summary:
The Senior Director, Quality – Trading Partners is a critical leadership role accountable for ensuring the quality, compliance, and regulatory integrity of GSK’s global Trading Partners operations. This includes oversight of GDP/GMP activities, Medical Device compliance, and Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) responsibilities across a complex, multi-market supply chain.
Reporting to senior Quality leadership, this role serves as the strategic Quality partner to the Trading Partners Managing Director, supporting a central stock ownership model (>£1bn) and the global distribution of APIs and finished goods (>£10bn). The Senior Director will lead a multi-layered, regionally dispersed Quality team, fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture that attracts and develops top talent.
This role requires deep regulatory expertise, exceptional leadership, and the ability to influence across commercial, supply chain, and regulatory functions. The successful candidate will be a visible Quality leader, driving operational excellence, regulatory engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership of Quality Operations:
* Lead the Trading Partners Quality organization including WDA & ASR, QP Importation, Medical Device, and MAH teams, to ensure sustained compliance with cGMP, GDP, MDR, and Marketing Authorisation requirements across global operations
Inspire and Develop a High-Performing Team:
* Provide visionary leadership to a multi-layered, regionally dispersed team. Attract, develop, and retain top talent through effective coaching, succession planning, and a culture of empowerment and continuous growth
Enterprise-Level Quality Partnership:
* Act as the senior Quality business partner to the Trading Partners Managing Director, supporting a central stock ownership model (~£1bn) and global distribution of APIs and finished goods (~£10bn)
Regulatory Authority Engagement:
* Serve as the primary Quality interface with HPRA, MHRA, and other regulatory bodies, ensuring proactive engagement, inspection readiness, and successful inspection outcomes
Oversight of EU Release and Product Compliance:
* Ensure the effectiveness of the EU release process and that all product handling, release, and distribution activities align with licenses and regulatory requirements
Medical Device Quality Leadership:
* Oversee compliant batch release of medical devices on behalf of GSK Trading Services Limited and act as the lead Quality contact for Medical Devices in accordance with EU MDR and Notified Body expectations
Innovation and Continuous Improvement Leadership:
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement by introducing cutting edge thinking, leveraging digital technologies and shaping AI-enabled solutions. Drive transformation initiatives that enhance compliance, efficiency, and agility, ensuring the organization remains future ready and aligned with evolving regulatory and industry standards.
Governance and Risk Management:
* Sustain robust quality governance processes and ensure effective business continuity planning (BCP) and risk mitigation strategies in line with QMS and legislative expectations
Regulatory Intelligence and Change Management:
* Monitor evolving global regulations (e.g., QP Certification, GMP, MAH, ASR, MDR), assess impact, and lead compliant implementation strategies across the Trading Partners network
Oversight of China MAH Compliance:
* Provide strategic governance for MAH activities supporting supply to China, ensuring full compliance with local regulatory requirements and license conditions
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field
* Proven leadership experience in quality assurance, compliance, or quality control within pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare industries
* Strong decision-making skills with a focus on speed and quality
* Experience managing regulatory compliance and interacting with regulators
* Extensive experience in pharmaceutical quality assurance, with a strong track record in GMP/GDP compliance across manufacturing and distribution environments.
* Proven leadership experience within a complex, multinational matrix organization, ideally with global or regional accountability.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with external regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and key third-party partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Regional leadership experience in quality operations
* Experience with new product introductions, pharmaceutical and medical device.
* Familiarity with commercial business and in-market activities
* Strong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with senior leaders
* Knowledge of digital tools and analytics to enhance quality processes
