Overview

The Band 6 Interpersonal Therapist will join the Lincolnshire Talking Therapies service as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering Interpersonal Therapy with a clinical caseload and providing clinical supervision. The post is based in Louth & Skegness with potential coverage at alternative bases to meet service need. The service delivers evidence-based interventions within a stepped care model for mild to moderate common mental health problems.


Responsibilities

* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
* Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and maintain accessible treatment delivery.
* Attend meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
* Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service and keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
* Work closely with other team members to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
* Undertake psychological assessments of patients referred to the service, including identification of the patient’s problem, comprehensive risk assessment and identification of therapy goals.
* Attend CPD and mandatory training provided by the Trust; provide supervision for other IPT staff as required; attend clinical supervision.
* Maintain standards of practice in line with employer requirements and relevant regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (eg BPS, UKCP); stay up to date with new recommendations/guidelines from bodies such as the Department of Health, IAPT, and NICE.
* Ensure client confidentiality is protected at all times and stay up to date with advances in IPT.
* Identify and review clear professional objectives with senior therapists as part of ongoing professional development; participate in clinical/managerial supervision and annual performance reviews; attend conferences/workshops aligned with professional objectives.
* Contribute to the development of best practice within the service and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures.
* Maintain duty to health and safety for self, colleagues, patients and the public; ensure information processed for patients and staff is accurate, confidential, secure and compliant with Data Protection policies.
* Understand that the post description may be reviewed in light of service development.


Qualifications

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work within a team; thorough familiarity with clinical systems.
* Completion of the accredited IPT course; accreditation with a professional body; willingness to undertake further training.
* Ability to hold a clinical caseload and participate in clinical supervision.
