Excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a main contractor to deliver Design & Build projects across the midlands area.
The Company
A well respected main contractor with strong financials who have a proven track record of delivering multi-million pound projects across the UK. Going forward their order book is full for 2025/26 with a very healthy outlook for 2026 and beyond.
The company has been established for many years and a high proportion of their workload is on a repeat basis which is testimony to the quality of project they deliver for their clients. Their core sectors of work include industrial, commercial, retail, residential and healthcare including both new build and refurbishment. Projects are typically Design & Build valued at £5 Million to £30 Million.
As a business they enjoy very good levels of staff retention and have an excellent reputation for investing in the training and development of their employees; they also have excellent routes for career progression for their staff including at Design Manager level.
The role
The principle role of the Design Manager will be to coordinate and manage the design and build process on projects in the West Midlands region and will include:
* Value Engineering
* Involvement and pre-construction and tender stage
* Involvement with sub-contractor and consultant interviews and selection
* Manage the flow and distribution of design information to the Project team and subcontractors
* Ensure design information is provided, updated and accurate to ensure the programme achieves key milestones
* Conducting and chairing design meetings
* Accurate record keeping, use of company IT systems and dissemination of information
* Client liaison
* Work with the client, external consultants and the project team on any design changes and amendments
* Working with and managing relationships with external suppliers, consultancies, local authorities, etc where needed.
Required experience and qualifications
* Successful track record as a Design Manager for a main contractor on projects valued at £5 Million and upwards
* Ideally qualified to HNC or degree level in a construction related discipline
