We are an Accredited employer under the Liverpool City Region Fair Employment Charter, demonstrating our commitment to fair employment and a healthy, fair, inclusive and just workplace.

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen to join Knowsley Council's Public Health team as a Public Health Programme Manager, with a focus on the health of children, young people and families. The role aims to improve the health of children and young people who live in Knowsley by working with the Council and system partners to deliver high-quality services and support, and by coordinating programmes across the local health system to address inequalities in childhood health.

Responsibilities

* Lead and develop collaborative work to improve children’s health across local systems: with other public services, the private sector, the community sector, and, most importantly, children, young people and their families.
* Coordinate and influence transformational and operational programmes across the borough to add value and enhance service delivery for children and young people.
* Join up initiatives across the borough to improve health outcomes, including vaccination uptake, oral health, mental health, sexual health, obesity, breastfeeding and the wider determinants of health.
* Develop a clear vision and advocate for children’s public health priorities with system partners; work across Council services using a health-in-all-policies approach.
* Ensure children and young people’s voices are heard and their views shape policies affecting their health.

Qualifications and experience

* Excellent influencing and negotiating skills with experience driving change in local systems to improve health outcomes for children, young people and families.
* Experience in establishing and leading multi-agency strategic partnerships and collaborative working across public services, the private sector, and the community sector.
* A clear commitment to improving children’s health, including for those growing up in challenging circumstances or with experience of the care system.
* Ability to work across Council services with a “health in all policies” approach and to act as an advocate for children’s public health priorities with system partners.
