Service Engineer – Water Hygiene & Water Treatment

Overview
An established and reputable water hygiene and water treatment provider is seeking a Service Engineer to join its growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in water hygiene, water treatment, or building services who is looking to develop their technical skills and progress within a supportive, long-term role.
The position is field-based and will involve working across a variety of commercial and industrial client sites throughout London and the South.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of water hygiene and water treatment services, ensuring client systems remain compliant with current legislation and best practice.
Duties will include routine planned maintenance, compliance tasks, remedial works, reporting, and supporting commissioning activities where required.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out water hygiene and water treatment works across domestic and commercial water systems
Temperature monitoring, flushing, and compliance checks
Water sampling and testing
TMV servicing and maintenance
Tank cleaning, disinfection, and chlorination
Descaling of outlets and showerheads
Closed system testing
Assist with commissioning of water treatment equipment where required
Ensure full compliance with ACOP L8, HSG 274, and health & safety requirements
Complete accurate service reports and documentation
Maintain clear communication with internal teams and clients
Identify potential remedial works or additional service opportunities
Support, mentor, or assist junior engineers where appropriate
Keep knowledge up to date with legislation, industry standards, and equipment
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential / Desirable:
Experience in water hygiene, water treatment, or building services
Basic understanding of ACOP L8 and HSG 274 (training available if required)
Plumbing and/or electrical experience (desirable but not essential)
Experience working on-site in a field-based role
Good IT skills (Word, Outlook, reporting software)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Well organised with good time management
Full UK driving licence
