We are delighted to share that an excellent new opportunity has arisen within NHSGGC for a Mental Health Nurse to join our inpatient mental health team. This role offers an exciting chance to make a meaningful difference within a supportive, dynamic, and recoveryfocused environment.
As a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role within our multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, effective, and personcentred mental health care to adults and older adults. The post focuses on the full nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation using a strengthbased, recoveryoriented approach.
In this role, you will work in partnership with patients, families, carers, and colleagues, demonstrating compassionate and professional behaviours at all times. Our inpatient services prioritise safety, dignity, and collaborative practice, striving to minimise restrictive interventions and support seamless care transitions. Strong multidisciplinary working, along with active involvement of partner agencies, underpins the high-quality care we provide.

Key responsibilities:
In particular, the postholder will be responsible for the assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care programmes, using a strengthbased and recoveryfocused approach that actively involves each person in their care. The role requires the ability to work independently without direct supervision, collaborating closely with patients, carers, and a range of professionals and partner agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards, and clinical policies.
Regular participation in Nurse Line Management Supervision and Clinical Supervision is a key requirement of the post. The role also involves supervising the practice of others, undertaking mentorship and preceptorship responsibilities, and contributing to the ongoing learning and development of the wider staff team.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
3. Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC Level 1)
4. Degree-level education (or working towards it)
5. Knowledge of mental health nursing, physical healthcare, legislation, rights, and values-based practice
6. Evidence of CPD, reflective practice, and using digital systems
7. Strong communication, organisation, decision-making, and professional interpersonal skills
8. Ability to work flexibly and independently within a team
