AfC Band 6 (pro rata) plus a High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,750.47 per annum (pro rata) and a High Secure Clinical Responsibility Allowance of £4,201.29 per annum (pro rata)

At the State Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Professions team a place where your expertise will not only be valued but truly shape lives.

Why This Role Matters - As part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team within a high-secure forensic environment, you will:

1. Support individuals with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.
2. Provide lifechanging interventions focused on daily living, productivity and meaningful occupation to help manage risk and promote recovery.
3. Work autonomously with a defined caseload, using advanced clinical reasoning and evidencebased practice.
4. Lead on service development, clinical audits, research, and innovation within the OT service.
5. Provide clinical leadership to junior OTs, support staff and students which will help shape the next generation of practitioners.

Your work will directly influence patient progress, safety, independence and longterm outcomes.

ExperienceWere looking for a practitioner who is:

6. A qualified and HCPCregistered Occupational Therapist.
7. Experienced in mental health or learning disabilities.
8. Skilled in using a variety of assessments, including MOHO-based tools.
9. Confident in managing complex clinical situations and risk.
10. Motivated, reflective, and passionate about person-centred care.
11. A natural leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Reduced Working Week* - Starting from 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, and part-time staff will get a pro-rata reduction in their working hours without losing any earnings.
