We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Neuropsychiatrist & Medical Director to work at Cygnet Paddocks, providing a dedicated care pathway for men affected by acquired brain injury (ABI) or neurological conditions, where behaviors that challenge are the main impairment to recovery and rehabilitation.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing and maintaining the care of ward inpatients as required, and will also be responsible for auditing medical services to ensure quality in accordance with GMC standards and other relevant guidelines.
We are open to considering flexible working arrangements for this position.
In addition to being the Responsible Clinician, you will serve as the Medical Director at Cygnet Paddocks, a 28-bed specialist Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation service for men.
This is a full-time role with 0.2 WTE as Medical Director and 0.8 WTE as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
The wards are designed to replicate successful rehabilitation pathways, led by an in-house clinical and medical team, facilitating a clear care and treatment pathway.

Main duties and responsibilities:
As Medical Director, you will:
* Ensure optimal clinical outcomes for our patients
* Lead clinical practice and exemplify operational excellence
* Provide leadership and monitor performance of medical staff
* Supervise all consultants, ensuring proper supervision of SDs and ASs
* Offer expert knowledge and support to the service and team
* Ensure quality and compliance with standards and regulations
* Work with colleagues to provide integrated, whole-person care
* Coach, mentor, and train colleagues
* Maintain regular communication and meetings with medical staff
* Assist in recruitment and retention of medical staff
* Involve medical staff in clinical governance
* Collaborate with hospital managers on CQC outcomes
* Chair medical advisory meetings and attend Medical Directors meetings
* Liaise regarding fitness to practice concerns with the Responsible Officer and Regional Medical Director
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:
* Lead high-quality patient care at Cygnet Paddocks
* Model a positive attitude towards patients, families, visitors, and staff
* Take responsibility for patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team
* Assess referrals and conduct mental state examinations
* Perform investigations, diagnosis, and treatment
* Conduct ward rounds, reviews, and audits
* Implement risk assessments and clinical governance
* Supervise reports for tribunals and hearings, and attend as needed
* Coordinate with the Ministry of Justice for patient transfers and leave approvals
* Maintain accurate patient records
